It has been a long time since I have posted anything. Basically I have been pretty busy just living on a farm, homeschooling, working and making it all come together. I feel like I am at a place in my life where I am enjoying every breath and sleeping well for the first time in years. I haven't felt like sitting in front of a computer. I check my email and facebook briefly each day, but when I'm at home and not busy cooking or doing school I'm outdoors. I love the outdoors and find it what I long to do most.
It has been a crazy tough year, but very fulfilling in many ways. We moved to our farm about a year and a half ago now, and have invested a lot of our spare time and energy making into the place we dream of it being. Lots of work. Lots of trial and error. Some failure. Some success. Yet I feel satisfied. Why?
Well, I've been thinking a lot about heaven over the past 6 months or so. Slowly, I am digesting the book "Heaven" by Randy Alcorn. Very thought provoquing in many ways, and he puts in words many thoughts I have had over the past 4 years. I realize how so many of the things I strive for are unfulfilled, and hard, almost impossible to achieve in this life, and yet knowing they are little shadows of the New Heaven and New Earth to come, I am content to fail and to be disappointed. I know and am confident that my dreams will be realized in a way that far exceeds anything I could imagine in the world to come, and that my striving for them in this life, is in some small measure my way of showing God I believe in the good things He has given my imagination, and the great wonders He has in store for us in Heaven and the New Earth. The little dreams I strive for are just a glimpse of what He puts in my heart to long for in the world to come. If I try to make them a reality in this life, it is merely to remind myself and others of the greater things awaiting all of us.
