Better Late Than Never

It has been over a year since I posted, mostly because my computer crashed some time ago and I lost a lot of my links, files and passwords, and plus, life just happened. We were very busy, and now I feel I am busier than ever. I have had less time to reflect on things in my life on a deeper level, but perhaps more time to reflect as I go, kind of "off the cuff", a responsive type of reflection, to the events that have been happening.

One thing I have determined to do is to get back in the game, so to speak, in terms of professional development. That translates to getting more training, specializing on the job and going back to school. It's not because I really want to. I have had to go back to work as a nurse to help support our family. My husband job, though highly specialized and fulfilling to him, does not bring in enough income. I'm sure this is a reality for many families. So like it or not, the wife has to go back to work to help make ends meet. I have also decided to get training and go back to school to improve my professional value so that I can swim and not sink in this failing economy. I don't know what the future holds, but I have had a growing sense of impending doom hanging over our society. What will the future look like? Will anyone be able to stay afloat financially?

And in the midst of all the change, I have felt a deeper sense of drawing on the strength of God to find hope and meaning in all of it.  I can look back now on all that He has brought me through, and knowing that they were very tough times, I can see how God has strengthened me for what may lie ahead.

As the Christmas season approaches, I reflect on the words of Amy Grant in one of her Christmas Songs from several decades ago: "No one knows what tomorrow holds, but over the horizon, surely you and I will find, Emmanuel, God with Us". We sure are going to need Him. I pray He will become the destiny we all long for each day.
